Two little questions

Wed Apr 15, 2009 10:59 am

Hello all,

1 - How can I re-supply the B.E.F. without any high sea transport points and no way to increase them ?

2 - What is the best Army HQ stack composition ? I'm wondering if the Army HQ stack MTG as the other corps or only give some bonuses. So, is it a waste to put an entire division or two in the stack, or are some artillery batteries sufficient ?

Thank you for enlightening me !! :)

Hi DarthMath,

There is no really easy answer to this question. In part it really depends on how you play.

Army HQ's have a better base chance of MTG than Corps an automatic +25% So on the one hand it would seem as if putting entire divisions into an Army stack makes perfect sense. Trouble is whilst an Army stack has a better chance of MTG it will only act as a reserve to the Corp which is under attack. It will not attack itself. Thus you could say that its better just to have some seriously heavy artillery units and just the odd brigade or two in your Army stacks, leaving your divisions for your Corps.

But then again (getting complicated is'nt it ;) ) Army stacks on their own are capable of attacking. So if your Army and Corps are not operating in close support of one another its back to perhaps putting divisions in your Army stacks.

It is one of the beauties of this game that there is no right answer. There are simply arguements fore and against.

Thank you Soundoff for such an explanation !!
My own analysis and game experiences conduct me to something that you
call "one of the beauties of the game" : the "perfect" answer doesn't exist !!
However, I learned something with the +25% MTG of the Army stack. This is very interesting !!
As you explain, the better combination strongly depends of the player style,
and of the situation on the map. So thanks again for your answer, and for my part, I'm going to continue testing and fighting again and again !! :)

Hi Gray, the files concerned are just following !

I hope you will find the reason why the British Army seems not to be able to supply at Boston, it would be very interesting to know.

Hello Vegetius & DarthMAth,

Looks like an amazing AAR you two are posting. How on earth did you get foreign intervention to trigger in Feb 1862? Never seen it happen that early before. But its certainly making for an interesting AAR..

Thanks a lot, Capt Pob.
We play with the foreign intervention in easy level to balance the game a little, that means the Confederates must reach 75 instead of 100 to trigger the intervention event.
That's the main reason !! ;)
And a judicious use of political options by my side, I must modestly admit !
