missing elements

Fri Dec 05, 2008 11:17 pm

after a disasterous battle in manasass, i decided to reload and retry battle with better results. after a few reloads, i keep on noticing that after the battle, an element of sharpshooters isnt listed when it shows initial forces.

i know its a small issue, but it leads me to think that my sharpshooters arent even being taken account in the battle.

i can post saved games

example.
i have an element of sharpshooters in D. Keys division, and each time i would fight the battle, the element of sharpshooters wouldnt be displayed in the initial forces.
after i noticed, i reloaded the turn a couple of times to try to figure out why they werent showing up and couldnt figure out anything.

the rest of his division shows up, just not the sharpshooters.

Do you have a screenshot of this?

My first thought is that you have filled the element display with element types that are more numerous than your (single?) sharpshooter, and that it therefore doesn't have room to get displayed.

Thanks stegosarus_army :)

Still not sure, but my suspicion is still there; I think you don't have rrom to display all subelement types in the battle window, which means some of them are hidden from plain view while still participating.

I'm not an expert on the USA OoB but I think it is the Washington Bde that is giving the trait of sharpshooter. If the CSA though- the elite bdes like Stonewall Bde, Texas Bde, Tramp Bde provide the sharpshooter to their divisions or if alone.

Magruder's division has the sharpshooter skill without having a sharpshooter unit because of the Texas Bde.

Your suspicion is undoubtedly correct. Stegosarus has filled every slot on his battle display leaving no where for the sharpshooter unit to be displayed.

On the above, Keyes division has 1st US Sharpshooters listed, Towers Bde will be from Pennsylvania and must be the one with a sharpshooter inside it.

No I see what you mean, the division is getting the traits from somewhere
and the sharpshooter unit is in the panel but the traits should show in a brigade just like the strong morale does for Washington Bde. Hmmm....

( Some of the elite brigades have sharpshooter/skirmisher units and thats why they show the icons)
