It's very curious! I had never seen a 'battle' like this. :D

Wouldn't even get her hair mussed.

For sure, this kind of victory will not contribute to improve McClellan reputation :D

I've only played through the campaign game twice against Athena (as the CSA) and both times I sent Belle up to Washington where she promptly disappeared. Perhaps I should have sent her into battle instead? Insights welcome.

Lol Stauff, Belle is meant to be trained by a training officer, not to be sent on a hopeless mission to our capital! :w00t:

Haha well I assume she got seduced and "lost the mission."
I'll take her appearance more seriously next time. ;)

She is removed by event if she has not been killed before hand (this simulates her being captured by the union authorities). I don't recall the exact date when she disappears, but she is only available during 1862.

Yeah, it's only for a few months.

From something I read, the Spies should be placed with the Army commander in the area, supposedly to enhance intelligence, lessen FoW, etc.

Bushwa. Advance and give 'em cold steel, I say. We don't don't need no stinkin' intelligence.

And Mosby will do the job just fine anyway :)

I considered having Mosby and Belle pose as a pro-union couple running a bed & breakfast in Front Royal. ;)

Given Belle's specific action in helping Jackson in the battle of Front Royal, her effects in the game might be better modeled as a % chance for a significant combat boost for CSA battles fought in 1862 in the Shenandoah regions.

Certainly it could be argued that the confederate spy Rose O'Neal Greenhow had stronger and more long-lasting effects operating in Washington itself. As Wiki states: "she traveled in important political circles and cultivated friendships with presidents, generals, senators, and high-ranking military officers, using her connections to pass along key military information to the Confederacy at the start of the war."

In fact a separate list of "Intelligence events" would be some wonderful chrome for both sides.

It was nip and tuck there for a while. Belle's Gatling hatpins kept them at bay until she ran out of ammo.

Belle & Mosby: who knew?

Sat Aug 27, 2011 3:55 pm

I'll have her appearing soon in a pbem and am wondering how best to use her abilities. What in fact would sending her out with Mosby accomplish, if anything?

For the most part she just lets you see troops in the area she is in and adjacent areas. Teaming her with Mosby is just overkill. It won’t let you see what is not there. You need Mc Clellan to do that. :neener:

Send her to your most active region. That's usually the one VA is in, but not always.
