Florida Keys

Sun Aug 22, 2010 11:31 pm

Is there any rationale for a Confederate attack on the Florida Key forts? It seems like it wouldn't be too hard to surprise the Union player by building some naval transports and land a force to take them. Would you be able to supply a garrison force at the forts as the confederacy? Would the forts have to be run by the union when going from the gulf to the Atlantic?

Rebels can just sail around them with ocean ships. I took them once on my conquer the world campaign. It's slow and pointless. They stayed in supply with a small garrison though.

oh well, I was just looking for a move that might bring an "WHAT THE HECK?!?!?! kind of reaction, but if it's completely pointless then nevermind.

It's pointless 'cuz you can't impede traffic by virtue of possesion and there is nowhere to go - what's to attack?

They're handy for the USN as a rest stop, but that's about it.

I use them as a base for Gulf blockade fleets. Other than that....

I need the units there to be unlocked to lead an attack on Florida! :(

You mess with spring training and you will not like the aftermath.

None, I must confess. Just a friendly jibe with the esteemed poster. Apologies, if warranted, GL.
