How do I construct a depot?

Wed Jan 09, 2008 9:14 pm

I have read that you click on a stack and do SHIFT/D - but what else is involved? I read somewhere and now can not find where I read something about a combination of so many wagons and something else is required? I did look all through the manual, but I didn't search the forums yet.

I am wondering if someone is going to actually write a game strategy guide like Prima makes (or made) for many games. And I have read intro posts on this forum...

Thanks.

Tommy: Reviewed Rafe's suggested site on ACWwiki. I find general directions with no key stroke date or data related to icons to use? T

http://ageod.nsen.ch/aacwwiki/Shortcut_keys gives you the various shortcut keys. Shift-D constructs a depot, provided the other requirements are in place.

Yes, I saw that

I am not at home at the moment so I can't check the game...I will now have to look at HOW one finds, builds or captures supply wagons as the Wikipedia didn't link to that answer...I presume that they are a build option somewhere in the game like in building ships and trains.

Each time I ask a question I get referred to the manual, or now the Wikipedi....I guess the general answer is to just READ everything and keep reading. My problem is apparently expecting some things to be simple without having to log, as was suggested in an earlier post, a few hundred hours playing the game which, of course, I am in the process of doing...or struggling through depending upon one's viewpoint. I have been, apparently, "spoiled" by many other games that are not nearly so difficult to just "jump into" or to find answers by readinig the manual.

So where do I get? or how do I build? Supply Wagons

Fri Jan 11, 2008 1:20 am

I have several divisions and a reserve brigade completely UNsupplied. So I can build a depot with two wagons. Where do I get them? I have extra supplies several regions away but how do I move those wagons from that region to where I need them? Sorry folks but I have looked for these answers in the manual, on every page of the ledger, and in the AGEOD Wikipedia. I would think that building, buying, stealing or borrowing supply would be a no-brainer but darn if I can figure it out. I can build artillery, infantry, cavalry, ships and raiders....but I don't see no wagons to build. :siffle:

They're under the 'Support" unit tab in the reinforcement screen of the ledger.
Supply wagons are quite expensive, but necessary for any extended land campaign, of course.

It's been posted that two transports ships can be used also, and they're cheaper, so I assume this means river transports...

this is any transport so on the atlantic coast you can use the ocean transports...

Here's a build example of mine; you can see the supply wagons on the second to last section ("support" is the third last tab in the reinforcement screen, IIRC). I'm building 2 supply wagon units, and no other support units.

Also, for a better understanding of why your units aren't getting supply, take a look at http://ageod.nsen.ch/aacwwiki/Supply#Supply_distribution

Can not build depot

Thu Jan 17, 2008 9:46 am

Hi, have played for a while now and starting to get the hang of it but I have a problem with building depot. On of my stacks contain 3 support wagons in at county with 60% loyalty to me. 2 of the wagons is full.
It seems I am running out of supply in a while and also taking the hint in the manual into consideration, this seems a good place to build a depot. But, the box is greyed out? What might be wrong.

What does the tooltip for the greyed out button say?

Also note, depot-building need military control > 50%; loyalty is not a factor

Hi!
Not sure if its necessary... but try making an stack with both suply wagons alone and see if the button light up then...
Also, aacwwiki states you need at least 50% MILITARY CONTROL to build a depot.
You talk about 60% LOYALTY.
They are different thigns. Check your military control % on the tooltip over the region.
Hope it helps

Edit:
Ups!, Rafiki was faster... :niark:

My mistake, just found out that one of my supply trains/wagons was not full, but was partly "depleted". Sorry for the trouble.
