Aacw Not Responding

Sun Apr 22, 2007 6:19 pm

Hi

Im at turn "early July 1861" just restored a saved game and undertaken the next turns moves, on completion of my move I press the end turn button and the game goes through the "process". However this time the Supply segment keeps going...going... going....going.

Its on Supply segment 1970 so far and by the time i finish posting it will be close to 2000+.(I had to close down at 2286+)

The background programme says its not responding but its still ticking over....

The question ( i eventually get to) is this a bug????????

Thanks
Drew

PS running new patch, 1.01a, this is my ninth start first with the new patch, it has never hung before... very stable until now!!!!

I had this happen once in beta, but it was non-reproducible, and couldn't figure out what caused it. A restart should fix the problem.

Took your save Drew. I had the supply phase last 121 segments, and this is the first time I see that, but it processed to the turn after. I did that twice and got the same intensive computing. It can be a rare bug in the supply distribution, or it can be a very rare occurence where at a given turn, all cities need to send and get supplies at the same time, so creating this peak... The second turn was indeed fast: only 21 segments.

So the mystery remains... I did not have a lock-up, and not reproducible = not fixable for now.

Same supply segment bug - There is a fix needed here I believe

Mon Apr 23, 2007 2:05 pm

I have had the same ever-escalating Supply segment situation also. Got it up to 3000+ to test it. CPU is at 93-100% the whole time, memory usage is over 500Mb (basically all free memory). Had this off and on during my turns 25-27 of a July Union Campaign. There was no way, no how to get past it so finally I reloaded a renamed save from 3 turns ago and got past it.
My most recent 'next turn' was turn 29 and when I am started looking at the map it appeared to be turn28, so instead of processing the turn and being in turn30, I am back in turn 28. Very strange, but to be fair I will look at the files and redo the next turn from my ctrl-save file and see if it reoccurs and send it to Pocus. I now always do an alternate save (have been 'ctrl'-saving) every turn just in case.
