Gustavus W. Smith:

Smith, a Major General, commanded a division under Joe Johnston in the eastern theater. He briefly commanded the army after Johnston was injured at the Battle of Seven Pines...however he had a nervous breakdown once he took command and was quickly replaced by Robert E. Lee.

3/1/1 seems about right...

GW was one of the first generals to be promoted to Major General on the Confederate side.

If the April 1861 campaign should start with anyone as a Major General it should be GW, and not M. Bonham, who is an extremely obscure general.

Of course, I don't think there should be any major generals at the start of the 1861 game, just 3 stars in Beauregard and Johnston, but if the designers feel it necessary, GW would be a much more historical choice. He has J. Johnston's second in command on the Peninsula, and briefly took over command of the Army N. Virginia as was mentioned.

However, while GW was one of the highest ranking generals, he was also one of the most unskilled. R.E. Lee saw fit to remove him from any front line command almost as soon as possible.

Thus I suggest reducing his stats down to a 3-0-0, although he may still be useful as one of the only Confederate major generals early in the game.
