Edwin "Bull Head" Sumner

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edwin_Vose_Sumner

Sumner commanded the Federal II Corps during the 1862 campaigns. He also commanded one of the "Grand Divisions" (2 infantry corps and a cavalry division) at Fredricksburg.

Sumner was one of the oldest commanders in the Union army, and seems to have used sledgehammer tactics at Antietam and Fredricksburg that resulted in exceedingly high losses...I'm thinking statistics such as 3/2/2 might be appropriate. Any thoughts?

He's not on the list is he? Seems important enough to consider adding to the list.

Not familiar enough with him yet, so I'll start by posting some average stats which reflect his seniority.

During the battle of Seven Pines, Sumner moved his corps across a swollen river, on his own initiative, to bring help to Keyes. Seems at least slightly better than average in that regard. Suggest giving him a 4 Strategic Rating based on this incident.

Sumner should probably go into the "Missing Leader" list.

Sumner needs a Corps level entry in the other "Generic USA leaders" post in the other thread.
