Minor: Name Mismatch?

Tue Sep 15, 2009 12:20 am

Is there a name conflict between the USS Richmond and the USS Iroquois, being one and the same ship?

If I recall, they are a pair of ships at the start. Having lost the Richmond in battle, you have only (part of!) the Iroquois left. Like many stacks, the original name stays until a new one is generated by a later change in composition. (There is a thread where Jackson is KIA, yet the division remains named for him until a new division commander is appointed.)

It is a name mismatch. Steam frigates, which have black hulls and steam on their pictures and a vertical line on their NATO symbols, come 1 to a unit. Regular frigates come 2 to a unit.
About the Jackson thing, I think I mentioned this on that thread too; it is a game quirk that the leader sprite stays with the unit after he dies, but Confederate divisions were named for their commanding general. I guess since Jackson kicked so much rump they decided to keep his name :neener: just as the Stonewall Brigade did even after Jackson was given corps command.
