Kentucky neutrality

Sun Sep 02, 2007 1:25 am

Ok, so what happens if Kentucky is not attacked by either side? At some point, I assume it must renounce neutrality and join one side or the other.

If neither side forces Kentucky to the other side, what happens and when to Kentucky?

There is the "Camp Robinson" event, it is when some union units are created in kentucky and the CSA uses it as a pretext to move troops in. It is like the union has invaded kentucky and kentucky becomes CSA friendly.

Check the Wiki under FAQ about Kentucky neutrality
a) in September 1861 there is a small (10%) Chance for Kentucky to secede if the CSA Moral score is higher than the USA
b)If a Militia unit in Kentucky is attacked by one side, Kentucky joins the other
c) if the CSA captures Bowling Greene or the Union captures Lexington, KY joins the other side.

so if no one has invaded Kentucky, you can expect the union to attack Lexington first since the rail net there is very important (of course you can also use river supply); This will probably take place during late 1861 or early 1862, once the union has gathered its forces. Short, if you invade Kentucky with the union, do it with a steamroller tactic.
For the CSA, Kentuckys assets are a nice addition to your already meager forces, but it is doubtful that you will be able to hold it.

Jagger and I are playing a game, it's Late Mar, and I was wondering the same thing: Isn't it supposed to go Neutral at some point? I haven't seen any messages, and and I don't think Jagger has either, so both of us are probably wondering the same thing.

This stalemate benefits the CSA, because I'm sure I will lose Lexington the minute Jagger can attack it without triggering a negative event. Maybe sooner.

It's hard to say, because the AI will ALWAYS break the peace no matter what.

Kentucky again...

Yesterday I startet a new game as the Union. I remained inactive in KY, just raised troops in OH, IL, and IN and moved them to the border.
Some time later I saw a message that the CSA had invaded KY, so I fought back because I thought that KY had joined the Union.
But one or two turns later KY seceded. :p leure:
What did I do wrong?
I've read the hints for KY in the AACWwiki... but I still don't know how I can prevent KY to secede...

I wonder if the AI will fail to attach KY if we eliminate Lexington as a VP city? Not sure if that is the only VP city in KY, but point is - eliminate them from the game start VP city list. Add them in later via event when KY is no longer neutral.
