Map of USA with battle locations

Hi!

Do you guy knows where on the Internet I can find a simple political map of the USA with loactions of major ACW battles and their dates? I need one JPEG with such a map to help better grasp those different loactions.

Thx for the links. Unfortuantely, I couldn' t find there a simple,political map(state boundaries) of today USA with names and dates of battles, so you could have a general overwiev of them. Thanks anyway!

PS. The problem with ACW battles is they are named like ie. Battle of Franklin or Cold Harbor and I am not that geographically proficient to link a given battle to a state it took place. Such visual reference I mentioned above would be a great help.

There was one that I got a couple years ago when they did an article on losing Civil War Battlefields in National Geographic. It came with a four page fold out map of the USA and had all the battles numbered with an index to what each battle was. Very informative map. I will see if I still have it so that you can see what number it is and maybe find a used copy of it.

I found that it is the April 2005 edition of National Geographic that came with the map. If you go to their website you can go to the issue and look up the stuff they talk about in that issue as well as pull up the map that came with it with the ability to zoom into it. It is a really good map to study on.

How big was the map that came in the magazine? I am thinking of ordering it if it is a decent size. That is some outstanding work they did on that thing.

I would say that it is probably 18"X30" give or take an inch or two. It is a pretty good size map.

Sweet, ok found a family member that had a subsciption at that time. Hopefully I can find that issue in there storage (read as: trash) room. I started the search last night and almost got killed by moveing what was apparently the "key" magazine from a stack and here comes the entire stack tumbleing to the ground after me.

I am good, it just amazes me how folks can keep some stuff for so long. I have found some very interesting things in there in my many searches. I found a set of weekly issues from the 40's, great reading if you are interested in the WWII era.
I imagine if I sat down to just read everything that interested me, not ever issue or mag in there, I would be in there for several years. It is like a library of magazines.
