Walking Jackson's Shenandoah Valley Campaign route

Sat May 26, 2007 2:00 am

Here is a link to a "reenactment walk" a guy is taking here in the valley. He is a vet who has done several tours in the service recently.

Some good insights as to what an entire ACW force on the march would see and encounter, and what is happening today.

Above: The battlefield at Harrisonburg, Virginia. Pennsylvania Bucktails fought Confederate General Turner Ashby's men, and killed Ashby, in the woods above. This is what happens frequently to unprotected battlefields in the Valley.

Also in the Shennandoah in July is a commemorative event for the 2nd battle of Kernstown. http://www.stonewallbrigade.com/kernstown07.html
"At ease was never that easy to me. I don't relax by parting my legs slightly and putting my hands behind my back. That does not equal ease. At ease is not being in the military. 'I am at ease, bro, because I am not in the military.' " - Mitch Hedberg
