Does anyone remember?

Does anyone remember that great little series of tactical level wargames published by TSR in the 80's covering civil war battles. I can't remember there titles but they covered Gettysburg, Sharpsburg, Fredricksburg, and had a module covering calvary battles. They were large in scale and based on regimental level tactics. They were extremely fun to play and I felt really gave a feel for CW combat.

Also Avalon Hills Devils Den with those wonderful hard backed maps and company/battery level I think. Please tell me there are a few of us dinosaurs left.

Perhaps you mean SPI, not TSR? SPI did a series of monster games like you describe, Terrible Swift Sword was the Gettysburg title of the series (and the most popular.)

You know Jim, thinking back I believe it was SPI although for some reason I remember those boxes with that big TSR logo on them. Was there a buy out possibly?

Thanks Rafiki!

Yes they were massive games and very detailed. Even had sheets where you could keep up with each units losses to score at the end. Would take weeks to finish, but God I loved it! :dada:

SPI and AH, yup.

I remember waiting eagerly for my SPI subscription to arrive in the mail. What was it a new game with the magazine every month or every other month?
