King of Dragon Pass

Mon Aug 18, 2014 6:38 pm

Just got this unique game for Android. I think it worth a mention as there is nothing else like it and it works so well on a tablet - somewhat surprising
as it was originally released in 1999. I always have problems with tablet wargames or RPGs as the interface rarely seems to work well. This one does.
I hope he finally makes a little money.

Cheers,
Chris

P.S. the graphics seem a little less dated on my 7" Nook. Maybe just down to the size of the screen? (Somewhat better than this image as well).
Some of the early graphics have been changed - it looks a lot better than the YouTube tutorial.

P.P.S. In case you are unaware of the Glorantha world Google it - it's been quite an eye opener for me.
Some more info here about the game including the manual.

Again graphics are better for the tablet version:

I tried it a little some time ago, but i confess didn't give it enough time to really get into it. But i've heard it is a great and very unique game!
And it looks perfect for a tablet version!

On my teens i did some paper roleplaying games on Glorantha world using Rune Quest system... god, it has been ages since then!! :bonk: ;)

Cheers!

I'm just getting my head around the Ducks - but somehow they work in this strange world :) £6 can seem a lot for a tablet game - but if this is the sort of game one likes it will give hours of enjoyment. I've never found a tablet game that works as well as this one so I thought I would give it a bit of a bump. Not for everyone but if you like reading manuals and a very in depth game and game world (+ like to sit in a comfortable seat while playing) it's worth a look. It certainly demands a bit of time to get into it.

Yes indeed!

I also had bought the PC version at GOG, but never got into it - partly maybe because it has some interface issues in a 27' screen :)

But on my iPad...Wow ! What a time-gobbler game !

I even think it is the first "serious" game that I know that actually plays better on a tablet than with a mouse-keyboard UI !

(And yes, those ducks...annoying, hilarious, but they have some pretty big friends... ;) )

Cheers

Thanks for the warning - maybe too late as I demanded 50 goods a year from them last night

Another P.S. I almost didn't buy the game because of the ducks (and other creatures - suspension of disbelief was too demanding).
But then I saw them on stands and it was somehow OK (+ they didn't evolve into this - evil or trickster Gods/Wizards etc - whatever works :) ).

I was already visited by a fearsome party that included a powerful and menacing Duck-wizard, though... :mdr:

I have a feeling I'll need more than a watchtower.

I didn't liked ducks either when we played pen&paper RPG on Glorantha... too Disney for my taste!
