So much to be said

Mon Oct 07, 2024 5:07 pm

I'll wait for the release of next announced patch (1.04) to talk about the bugs, 'iguanas' and "how to",
so it's here general feeelings at now.

. First, this is a game I dreamed about (doing it): I always thought wargames had to have more scales of victories:
tactical, strategical, political,
and historical, and here "in the end, it is legacy that wins the game".
(Yes I know, it was already like in past Ageod game)

. At last (last patch? me?) I feel like I "entered" the game (more than the previous Ageod game), and finally plays it many hours, despite all I could say here and following posts.

. "As a general point, Authority exists to be used. Once you are avoiding negative tokens, there is no particular reason not to spend it. "
Lol, sure "once": as I often play not caring about authority, so the game is harsh though for a very long time,
the "once" comes in the end of the game: actually I play "legacy first!"
Authority, I don't care about you, you come at me naturally when (people think) I deserve it.

. "Knightly Orders are not currently playable"
And let it be! I love when some factions play by itself like it was made sentient. My pc has the right to host her AIs friends too lol

. Like Vassals!: what the point?
"Having many vassals allows you to expand your own Demesne
and makes it easier to reach the thresholds needed to progress to a new government level"
Generally in games vassals are not well made, but here it is very welcome, it is a pleasure having some (those "sentients") or even to play one! (being mastered, following politics of the liege)

Thanks for the praise Eriss, it means a lot when old AGEOD grognards judge favorably the latest game made in 2024!

Indeed for many things, I have been trying to make features like vassals provide a unique advantage, not just a quantitative addition, so they are unique in that they reduce your required demesne size to evolve.

I remember now why there was "so much to be said", and why I waited long to continue playing: hopping for patches.

So much features are not explained, and the IU can be very boring, so who is not an already fan and voluntary will play something else. It's like I'm 15 years back, explaining this about RUS (and was insulted by the so good star modder, finally expeled)

_ How to start a war, the costs (now I know, but for long I was wondering how, then restart turns when I tried)
_ How to make war through the seas, land troops, organize them (for long I thought it was buggy)
_ How to NOT USE a Regional Decision while inspecting them (maybe change the mouse icon, add confirmation)

It's like the game was not well tested, and is only as is for some hardcore players, that I am not (I almost didn't play past Ageod games, I only wishes to)

Maybe there are youtubes explaining all, but I don't buy games to see YTs, nor reading wikis, all this should be integered ingame, not outgame. If you make me out of your game, I'll play something else.
At worst when games were still sold in boxes, there may be a manual to be read in WC or tramway, or even at work office (I think I did this for FoG-Kd, but it's not enough).

So I may return playing Stellar Monarch 2, Diablo IV, Wh40k Gladius, and even Age of Wonders 4 (the first I really like in the serie), and so many others

Return to “Field of Glory: Kingdoms”
