Question about battle resolution with Field of Glory 2

Fri Nov 30, 2018 8:43 pm

K am wondering if you could resolve battles using the Field of Glery 2 game in the following situation...

You have Field of Glory 2 installed on Steam, and,

You have Empires installed, but not on Steam.

In other words, would you have to have both games installed on Steam, or both of them installed outside of Steam, for the battle transfer system to work?

purely speculative answer.

My guess is it might be easier if you are 'within' or 'without' steam but it shouldn't matter?

My instinct is a custom battle for FOG2 is generated using the units and terrain of the Empires battle. You play it. Then some auto routine generates a result file to put back in Empires?

So in effect turn resolution of Empires is paused, you have fun with FoG, then you carry on processing the turn with the results.

If so it should be platform independent.

But of course each of those transitions will need a fair bit of code to enact.

We have strong hopes it will work, Steam and Non-Steam 'together'

Thank you, Loki and Pocus, ror your encouraging replies.

I expect it will work as described.
