Wars of Succession will be released on January 25th

First half of XVIII° century. There’s no peace over Europe.

After the great struggles of the Thirty Years War ending in 1648 with the Cuius Regio Eius Religio principle, two major conflicts are about to turn to pieces the Old Continent.

On one hand, the French & Spanish Bourbons monarchs are gathering their forces against the Grand Alliance built by Austrian Habsburg, Britain and the United Provinces, fighting to inherit the leadership of the Spanish Empire.

On the other corner of Europe, a coalition of Danes, Saxons, Poles and Russians led by the famous Peter I The Great is trying to deal a mortal blow to the Kingdom of Sweden and to switch the balance of power in this region. But the young and military-gifted king Charles the XII of Sweden will fight with tooth and nails to defend its realm.

We are very proud to announce that Wars of Succession, the upcoming wargame by Ageod, has reached the final development stage and it will be released on January, 25th!

Heavily focused in managing the military operations, in Wars of Successions you will coordinate the movements of several armies of many different great powers and their allies, take care of their supplies and fatigue and seek for the better conditions to engage combat, hold sieges or retreat to recover if needed.

Together, these features, combined with the proven Ageod engine make Wars of Successions a great choice to delight players interested in this era!

See, I have to be honest here I am still flabbergasted by the way this game has been promoted all the way to its release... I want to support you guys but this has been an utter disaster :
- No keeping the community of established or potential customers interested by some regular tidbits on the work being done.
- No communication on account of "the marketing guys have told us to wait for the big announcement".
- A big annoucement that is just a pair of screenis and 10 lines of text on the Matrix website and that's it.
- Since then hardly anything either to get a bit of buzz going although the game's release was announced just 2 weeks before the actual release date....

I mean if a company wanted to do it as badly as possible, it would try to follow this blueprint.

The worse part is that I want to like this game, buy and play it, but after the very bad last exeperience with WON, and seeing how this game appears to have been promoted like a bad movie getting a straight to DVD release, my fear is that it has been deemed as being bad by Matrix which is going to honour the release obligation but do the absolut minimum...

Really I am sorry to say this but we have been pestering you guys for more than a year on this game trying to get some infos and now the day or so before the official release we are still none the wiser as to what will actually be in the game, no positive communication whatsoever that could have help us envisage something else than the broken event chains we saw in WON.

I know it sounds harsh and I hope I am wrong, but nothing in this whole saga bodes well for this game.

Well, Matrix published informations about games, stream on their chanel, dont know what they can do more. It will be very nich game anywyay. I'm just sad that it is too Ageod style for me, and they didnt try enought to capture the interest of the game , the difficulty for Ally to coordinate their forces by just make 1Vs1 game and also the diplomacy reduce at minimum while it would be cool to have some turning back(Imagine Prussia ally with Sweden), or some Italian State switch for Imperial.

Anyway i will be there tommorow waiting to buy but i just hoped something bigger.

The return to 1 vs 1 kind of play seems like a good news to me. In the latest productions, the engine was stretched to its limits trying to simulate what happened. TEAW's ai needed a lot of patches to adapt to trench warfare. WON's ai still struggles with multi-layer diplomacy and allied cooperation. And too much scripting and the inevitable bugs which comes with it. WoS is a return to a scale we know the engine can manage. For the future, I guess it will depend on what the next engine can do !
