The image above shows what France could see after the Pressburg peace was played (apolgies is that clouded the question). To re-affirm the methodology used:

  • In the turn past - I played the Pressburg decree (available in the decrees tab - for a cost of 10 EP).
  • The next turn I saw the splash screen that highlighted that the decree had been played, but saw no impact on the war (Austrians were still there) nor French finances (no extra money allocated).
  • The current turn - the French diplomacy screen showed 'Offer Peace from Austria' (apologies if that screen shot made understanding the issue less clear). But again no Pressburg Peace seems to have been executed.

Phil,

Are the attached scripts sufficient to check the issue? If not, let me know what is required?

I am very surprised because the events scripts reports show the peace fired alright and nothing went wrong. Normally, you should now see at least that Tirol is Bavarian and Venetia is given to Kingdom of Italy...don't you?

Also, you should have seen a red message showing Austria accepted the peace offer...in fact, the event is even informed to all nations, so you could even see it playing someone else than France or austria (and see that when loading the AI saves)

Sorry I have been flat out with work and my time management is not as good as Don's. My strategy to control the seas and wait to see Napoleon was going to do has paid off. The time to build an Army under the Duke of York with several supporting Divs has allowed me the opportunity to land in force with the aim of capturing the port of Boulogne and establishing a bridgehead with a supply hub. Plus I was lucky enough to intercept a largish French fleet and do some major damage off the French Coast north of Boulogne and earn 18 NMs. Spain has not progressed well with Gibraltar under attack, which has diverted a division from the Boulogne force to shore up Gibraltor. To date my events have been working as advertised. Of interest I recieved notifications that France accepted Austria's offer of peace

Ta,

FYI - I did see the splash screen, and perhaps I missed something, but I still see Austrian units, and at war? Perhaps I should rephrase the question (assuming it all WAD) once the Decree (Treaty of Pressburg) fires?
  • Are there excess/left over Austrian units in play?
  • Can the Russians continue to advance through and use Austrian territory?
  • What is the impact of some of those provinces going to French/Bavarian control
  • What happens to the provinces already captured during the campaign? Do they stay French or revert (to Austrian control)?

So true. An evasive raiding force can take a long time and many times its number of regulars to hunt down and catch in terms of spreading out a cordon of garrisons and several pursuit columns. Wonderfully frustrating to deal with. That's where light cavalry, irregular auxiliaries, and specialist troops along with a hard-charging commander are well worth it.

* Once the peace is settled, Austria is at peace with France and its allies
* We have not implemented a "forced" evacuation of Russian forces from Austria, because the effects would be very surprising (teleportation of Russian units outside of Austrian territory but difficult to control). I am working on it, it needs some warning for the Russian player.
* Austria loses control of those ceded province and the new owner can use them as his own. This said, loyalty in Tirol is quite low for Bavaria, so the benefits are not huge economically.
* In theory the provinces captured should revert to the original owner (Pocus to confirm)

Thanks Phil,

  • Happy with the answer on Austrian peace and Russian forces, that makes sense and I appreciate how hard this may be to implement especially when Russia is a 'live player' let alone an AI.
  • For provinces, as you can see, in my game the captured provinces have remained French, which doesn't seem to be WAD?

G'day all,

With the release of the game and the conclusion of the beta test rc1 candidate, we will stop this game. Overall, we enjoyed the chance to play the game prior to release. More importantly, we enjoyed being able to show how the game has evolved.

At the end, the French were operationally dislocated. Austria had been conquered. The Russians were advancing but should have stopped due to the Pressburg Decree. But, with the British now landed and taking Bolougne, Napoleon is still weeks away from being able to re-assemble the Grande Armee around Lille to conduct any attack to retake ports and the northern French coast. France was out of horses, and probably needs the rest of the year to re-constitute it's cav and arty.

The game itself was fun to play. The provinces are small enough and the forces enough to really get a feel for the density and MTSG needed to make Napoleonic manoeuvre successful. Let alone the naval game which the French don't really get too much chance to use. The Supply and reinforcements aspects played well. It takes at least weeks to reconstitute damaged divisions let alone where key resources ie horses, are absent. The diplomacy game is usable, and we showcased some of that in the previous PBEM AAR in the previous post.

Eno and I hope the above AAR's were fun to read, and it gives you a good feel for WoN.
