Sat Jul 25, 2015 4:45 am

Any chance of dovetailing the wars of the revolution...rebellion in Vendee...the federalist rebellions..the invasion of Egypt....some political aspect where leaders get the guillotine....all that good (i mean bad) stuff?

Poland divided...battle of the Nile...invasion of Malta...revolt in Haiti...Committee of Public Safety...Duke of Brunswick's proclamation...yea you know you want it..

Sorry im a huge fan of the whole era and I don't like dividing the Revolution with Napoleon..I understand doing it..but I tend to view Napoleon as the end of the Revolution or the apex of it..I realize this could shatter the whole idea with too many outcomes..but hey..its worth a shot.

Interesting. Though- seriously , Polish Russian war of 1792 you think the Poles had any chance of winning? i really doubt, the Russians were quite strong and led by Empress Catherine the Great (yes, she of the mysterious fake Horse fame!)

A 1792 DLC would indeed be a good idea

Well you are touching one of the most interesting history disccussion with that question
Obviously Polish - Lithuanian Commonwealth had very small chances of winning full scale long war against Russia.
But there is a number of what ifs.
What if polish allies - Prussia , England and Denmark joined the war?
What if that conflict would turn in to much anticipated war for domination in central europa.
The other thing is that polish king - who used to be Cathrine the Great lover and probbaly was still in love with her belived that if poland fight long enough there will be change in faction behind the throne in petersburg and russia will accept polish new constitution.
An Pavel - who was to become tcar soon belived that polish king is his father....

One of the main reasons - Russia could swallow Poland, Finland, several Turkish provinces from 1790-1815 was that Russia was a major constituent of each of the 7 coalitions, putting anywhere between 100000 to 250000 troops in the field.

This was the reason the English and the Prussian forces wouldn't have wanted a war in their rear (i guess this is late 1792, in early 1792 the Revolutionary wars started). No one wants a 2 front war.
As for Paul the mad, well.. he was a short lived monarch, Alexander may have done exactly what Catherine did but maybe with a lot less confidence.

I like the idea of DLC that expands the timeframe and gives you a bit more to learn about and study on your own time. :)

I haven't been reading all the threads. Is a 1792 start probable or just the 1805 start? If 1792 (hopefully), the Egyptian Campaign would indeed be necessary and very, very enjoyable.

I am pretty sure the devs said it would start in 1805 but the devs say if the game is successful they may make a DLC that will bring the game back to the french revolution and the first and second coalition.

Such thinks are easy to MOD or to set in a 1792 DLC, ...but first we need to wait for the game itself :) , and gather enough volunteers without cowardices to help for later MOD/patch/DLC ;) .

Count me in for a 1792 mod.

IMHO it should start in April 1792, like the 1792 mod for Empires in Arms (the classic boardgame). That would include the Russo-Polish war in 1792!

Play balance will be an issue because France will start MUCH weaker. Russia will also be weaker and Austria MUCH stronger.

I always preferred a 1792-1802 game to an 1805-1815 game (love those revolutionary generals and Suvorov).
