The whole world is a British colony (or a former one) a WE AAR with the UE Mod- No CP

Mon Nov 23, 2015 12:08 pm

My AARs are for people who do not take themselves and the historical background too serious - I love micro and detailed long term plans - but also a naughty and ironic humour and humerous hybris - so have fun - always happy to see questions, remarks and comments ;-D
As a start we will write in the majistatis pluralis - to mirror the hybris of these days. I have never played GB yet - but have a lot of XP with CPs and EE - so lets see what surprises will await me.

The war parties:
We will play GB, Belgium and the US. Lets discuss the world, how it is seen from our standpoint - there are the British colonies and former colonies (u.S). Then there are the allies (or should better be colonies), which will need the protection of the great British Empire and the soon to be colonies the CPs. All of them shall see the grandeur of the British Empire - pun intended ;-P

The war plans:

Nothing unusual here - but lets remark that our oponent ViceBerg will surely pull most German reserve units to help A-H and attack Russia. We played the first game Path of Glory together as CP allies - so we believe we know how he thinks ;-D. That would open up for a counter attack to take back parts of France, before the entrenchments starts - lets see, if we are guessing correctly ;-D

The events:

we played the Japanese Treaty and the Neutrals Blockade - we will not give the Ottmans the dreadnoughts, as we want them to join the war as early as possible - that will trigger the Armenien Masscare and by that bring in Italy, Greece and the U.S. much earlier to join the WE - plus Turkey is very weak (in the mod even weaker than in Vanilla) and rather a liability for the CPs ;-D

The strategy:

Lets start with the colonies - there we want to take out the German colonies in Africa first - to free up all our colonial units and the ones of our allies. Then we will make good use of them - we discussed already long term plans of invasions with our allies WE and EE, but we will not reveal them yet ;-D - comes time - comes tea...
We also hunt the German raiders a bit.
Lets come to fleet management. We are partially shocked about so little transport potential, but we understand that the transports are first being used to bring in lots of tea - so the morale of our units stays high during this long war ;-D We will split our navy in two groups - two battle fleets to the blockade box - to start up the blockade - they have to have together at least 20kCB as the German fleet, if united, can bring up up to 16KCB - so we will need to shuffle our fleet from time to time to harbours to regain cohesion. We also send subs everywhere, where the red line is - so we see a German fleet ASAP, if it approaches - because additionally to blockading the Germans - we also need to protect our merchants. We hope the CPs will send their subs against our merchants, as it will make the U.S. join the WE much quicker;-D. Other then that, we blockade and hope for a risky move of the German fleet.
Our French allies will send their fleets to controle the mediteranian sea, while we will controle the rest of the worlds sea - so we always have more CB available than our opponents...
The second group is our transport group, which will move units around - some for the defense of Egypt. Some to Africa to conquer it quickly and some to Europe for our joint defense in France. We will defend in France the red line and our ally the black line and the fortresses of East France. As I am guessing, that the German player will not bring his reserves to the West, but to the East, we will destroy as many rail lines as possible and hope for a locally weak (maybe also lacking supplies and ammo) German force, that we can counter attack and take back parts of France and maybe even Belgium, before the entrenchment starts. We will as well try to keep as many Belgian units alive, as possible ;-D
Lets see - right now all our land units are fixed due to having a last tea party before the war and our TEF - Tea Expeditionary Force- (for non-British also known as BEF) is already teaching our French allies the secrets of the tea rituals, to boost their morale in the fight against the German forces. It will take at least two turns, before we can unfix the TEF, as our French allies are still dipping their croissants in our tea cups - so it needs time for them to understand the concept ;-P The TEF also brought a new invention - a moblie tea cooking device - commonly known as tank - we are sure, we will be able to make good use of it ;-D.

Turn 2 - Battles and events:

The Japanese will join our forces soon - we will use them in Africa first, than take the other German colonial holdings with them. A rather lucky battle for our Belgians - but luck is with tea drinking Roayals ;-D. The Belgians survived and could escape with luck the German onslaught ;-D

The Overview:
(After talking to Altaris - I know now that transporting my units by sea is done ba a strategic movement - much like the rail movement on land - I am really a nood with the WE ;-D)
So we decided to move two fleets with 12k and 11.4k CB stacks to the blockade box, while finishing our sub screen and pulling back all fleets worldwide to England to have enough punch, if the German fleet will show up ;-D The Germans can bring in an cpmbined CB of 16k in two fleets, if they pull their wordlwide fleet together - so we should be save for now - up until cohesion is getting lower. It is only 4 days from the nearest German port to the blockade box - so we have to stay alert....
Other than that we do retreat my Belgian forces each turn, destroying as many Belgian and Northern French railways as possible....and of course our royal army still celebrates its tea rituals...
We do protect London with our airplanes (so that the Germans cannot do naughty stuff with their Zeppelins) and build a few units (artillery and infantry units) - for the coming Glory of the Bristish Empire ;-D

The Strategy:

The Dieppe to Preonne line starts to show up - lets hope it will hold. But we caused quite a mess in the Belgian railways and that should slow down the Germans and cause supply problems for them...
We could save most Belgian units, which help at defenceses a lot as British units only unlock slowly...Antwerp is also still there - quite a surprise and it will help slowing down our opponent...In Eastern France counter attacks started - that will force the Germans to retreat from Nancy, but makes Verdun vulnerable...but units will soon be pulled out to strengthen the defense of the West - hopefully still in time...
Quite a tight situation as French and British forces will need time to defend the before mentioned line - lets see...

The Fleet and the World:

The first Britsh fleet arrived at the Blockade Box - the other one must have been delayed - as they both started at the same time. The first level of the Blockade is up! This is a two edged sword - it will reduce the German NM at apoint but alos give Germany bonusses in diplomacy - lets see how it will work out. Worldwide I am still pulling all the fleets together...
The Japanese will be used to take the German Pacific holdings and then maybe aid at the colonies in Africa. They will be completly unlocked next turn and would be too late in the West for defensive purposes - they will bring more delecious tea though ;-D

The East:

Belgrade is holding up - yay and the Russians are attacking - we will try to link up with them later, but we will not reveal how yet ;-D
Getting more and more tense...

Turn 4: Batlles and troop movements

The expected attack on Antwerp - just one turn later - which helps with organizing our defense in North France. I hope to be able to sneak the las Belgian Corps to Peronne, but the French are not in position yet and the BEF has a leader with only 2 strategic rating (60% MTSG chance) - I fear that the Belgians may just have been saved from early destruction in Belgium to get slaughtered in Peronne - I hope next turn, they are still left alone - then I may need to move them to a different place. I am sending in the first corps from GB to N France - but the got combined due to a weired bug with my subs using 133/0 transport capacity - so they will come in delayed by at least 2 turns - so not early enough anymore for the critical phase of defence...
Lets hope the attack in Germany confused the German troops enough - otherwise with not French stack really being in the correct province for defense - we may loose a lot more of France then wished for and even Paris may get threatened...Not much GB can do about it now - except in emergency retreating to Paris...
We are sending two corps as reinforcement to Egypt - that will be it for now - as the Turkish are only at 74% CP this turn.
Nothing new about the Blockade or fleets, yet ;-D

The Rest of the World: Our Japanese allies are on the way to take the German Chinese holding - I´ll use them for the Pacific and Africa - as they would arrive in Europe too late to have any major impact...the second force I will send to the Bismarck Islands.
In the East a colourful forth and back that first needs to get sorted out - but Belgrade still holds - yay ;-D
