Is the doomstacks appearance a bug?

Dear EAW players,

At the moment my German line has been broken and the entente powers are seriously destroying my armies. They showed up with 5 doomstacks with 4000+ combat power. Seriously, this can't be true...is this a bug or are these real armies?? If yes, are there any patches which can solve the issue?

I'am currently playing a PBEM game in May 1915.

You are in october 1915.

Looking at your screen, i see around 11000 Allied CP in a very short front (without belgium). The ennemy (is it the AI ? Did he have economic bonus due to increase difficulty ?) seems to have concentrated a big part of its troops in one point for a massive offensive.
I did not see your 5*4000 CP troops (which would be 20000 Cp total, which would be far more strange).

In my PBEM may 1915, i see around 8000 to 9000 ennemy western combat points on western front, not counting the reserve he probably have hidden from my sight.

So it is a big army but not impossible.

Did you sent too much troops against russian ? you can align 10K cp combat power easily too on western front

I notice that your manpower reserve is very FULL, which is strange and could indicate that you did not built a lot of troops since 1914. My manpower reserve is often close to minimum especially so late in the year because i built new corps all the time.
Do not hesitate to print money often to build divisions after divisions as early as possible.

A regular division is 50 manpower for 60 Combat Power. It looks like you have 4000 Combat power that is setting unused in your reserve.

So it is a big army but not completely impossible, with heavy concentration of troops.

Hi Stelteck, indeed I have stationed many corpses/armies on the eastern front because according to my battleplan my victory points are located there. I planned to play a purely defensive war on the western front also because most of my troops are stationed there. I also read on the forums about a doomstack bug, maybe this is the case?

I have few information about the doomstack bug so maybe someone will give more information, but i think by "doomstack" bug, we are speaking of the tendancy for the AI to concentrate all its troops in one army which is then easily encercled and destroyed by clever human player. Because the AI do not always establish a proper front.

But i'am not sûre it is the case we see here. But i do not know the detail of the "doomstack".

If you play with "TRAFFIC" on, the doomstacks are not scary as they melt away.

That's a real nice comment. Indeed I have set the traffic penalty off. I think I will put it on low because I also have enabled the historical attrition. How can I see the limit of armies I can put into a region?
