Death in Battle for Army Commanders

Mon Oct 20, 2014 3:42 am

In my game as EE, the Austrians just put Gen Brusilov down for the long dirt nap during the assault on Czernowitz. I was quite shocked as pg 115 of the manual says 3*** are immune from death in battle. Was this rule changed after the manual was written?

They're immune with the public betas, but you'll still lose a corps commander every so often.

Was the army in question whipped out? That is all it's components destroyed? That's when you usually get "wounded leaders", if the leader in question has no structure to be moved to he will iirc be removed from the game, also there might be a random chance for him to die outright...

No, my army survived; it won the battle and captured the city. The following turn the msg log stated Brusilov had died in the assault. Has this feature been changed in a patch and not noted, I wonder?

Immune from stray shots (the random roll each general undergoes after a battle, if he participated). Not immune from having all elements of all units of his stack destroyed. This Monsieur, is called an ignominious defeat, and a general can always die from that!

Ah, but the stack survived! It was not destroyed; Brusilov still died, though. Am I missing something?

Try having your GHQ commander get killed. Now that causes real problems. I once had Joffre get killed in a PBEM with Ringhloth. In 1914. To say that was problematic would be a serious understatement.
