Trench level

Wed Sep 03, 2014 6:01 pm

How do you tell the trench level of your units ? Is it the graphic displayed ? I can't see a value anywhere.

Thanks

If you select a stack, you can see the entrenchment level in the bottom right corner where you can also find your supply and ammunition levels. Hovering over the trench level also allows you to see how long it will take to reach the next entrenchment level. According to page 26 of the manual, trench levels are also showing graphically on the map.

Yep. Earthen wall = level 1-2, sandbags = 3-4, wooden palisade = 5-6, and brick wall = 7-8, IIRC.

This is WW1 - I miss barbed wire and maschine guns on the trenches! :cursing:
And this is AGEOD - I wish they found back to their love for detail. :(

What, the dreary map and UI isn't enough to set the mood for you? :p :dada:

And if we are on it: A brick wall is a very poor choice to represent a WW1 trench!

Why the choleric remarks all the time?

The graphical sophistication and presentation was always something I liked very well in AGEOD games.
I say if I like something, I want to say if I don't like something.

Barbed wire, machine guns and trenches are almost a synonym for the First World War.
Unfortunately, AGEOD has failed to incorporate this into the game.

And here I am not choleric, but quite disappointed.

Well, they show barbed wire on the starting screen.

Templer, given how much of what is in AGEOD games is abstract (and indeed in all games to a greater or lesser extent), I think not showing barbed wire and MGs is forgivable. If you really like, I'm sure you could find some clever modder who knows how to change the entrenchment graphic to show some barbed wire and an MG mounted above it. If that's what you'd like to see.

Personally, I think it's fine how it is, though the wall graphic is a little confusing outside of the context of fortress units. :/

AGEOD can do better

Wed Sep 03, 2014 10:04 pm

The absence of barbed wire and machine guns is not a game killer for me.

But in general, however, AGEOD selects its graphics to match the subject, the topic of the game.
Missing barbed wire and machine guns and this confusing brick wall...
AGEOD can do better! :eyebrow:
