Congratulations. I'm still far away from paris. Now you should play the Kaiserreich mod for Hearts of Iron 2 ;)

mighty impressive :) I couldn't get anywhere near this

thing is though - what is the AI up to? theres a 699 French army charging into Germany rather than defend France

i've noticed this in my brief plays - they (the French) seem to go charging off into enemy territory without consideration of the strategic situation

Seems pretty historical, French charging into Alsace and Lorraine :)

It's what I'm doing!! But at least Germany isn't charging through the Belgium/Holland area.

Yep..exactly. What the Germans originally hoped for and the French planned to do.

I've found that, as here, I can get to Paris with a concentrated thrust against the AI. However, the AI will land a big French force in Belgium and push toward Brussels with the British as well. It seems the Germans, to get to Paris, must ignore flanks and 'fill in' in Belgium when units are released from elsewhere.

I am extremely excited by your result, Lemelem. Not only because it is a spectacular success, but also because as I see it, the engine behaved quite good resulting in what could have been a real alternate reality result if things went the Central Powers' way back then. Now continue with Revolution Under Siege and the Drang Nach Osten scenario! :p

I do not agree. I think that army has simply been stranded. But if supplied (as it seems it is) it could have done a lot of damage behind the German lines as it could have cut off the railways to the front. In a multiplayer game this would have been a disaster for the German player. Here, we do not know... but I wouldn't condemn the AI for pushing behind the lines.

Another reason to up the Belgian troops to historical levels instead of what we have now.
Also, attacking Paris with 169.000 and 670 artillery vs 402.000 defenders with 1600 artillery. Wow. This should have been a big slaughter of German troops.
I don't see why the Entete would surrender just because Paris has fallen...

Actually that were 402.000 attackers.

You removed all active troops along the Rhine to do that it seems? I don't want to play down your success, but there are bold maneuvers that no GHQ would have tried historically. Here we still have a game, and you can pull it out. This remind me of players in Civil War II managing to reach Richmond in a few months by thrusting toward it with everything, disregarding all the rest. This is doable. Still, bravo for your victory!

I've done it as well... I'd suggest changing how much morale boost the central powers get from capturing paris. Maybe tie the morale boost amount to other areas also having been captured by the central powers. For example, 10 morale boost to the CP for paris alone, 20 for paris and verdun, etc etc.... thus a victory of this nature would require more than just a simple thrust to paris in an all or nothing gamble.

I did it too, without weakening the Rhine. It is really an Allied AI problem.

POCUS, he has strong troops in Alsace, Von Heeringen Army.
Plus he has a full army under Rupprecht in Valle De Moselle
And also some troops in and around Verdun.
So did not strip the Rhine of the full troop complement, guess he ignored the Eastern Front and the threat to his flanks and steamed all ahead in a gambler's fashion.

BTW- Lemelen, what was the AI level and AI settings?
Also CONGRATS for the great win. the Kaiser would have made you - Furst Von Alsace.!
