Combat Power V Army Size

Mon Sep 29, 2014 8:00 am

Just want to say that I have really enjoyed the game since I got it a week or so ago, really has that one more turn itch that you need.

Finally got through my first Grand Campaign as the CP, though on Private :bonk: , just a query, is there a quick way to see the size of the army present. I think I over did the artillery regiments in some stacks and I would have 500+ combat power, but then my poor German commander would hit a 200 odd Russian stack and I would be outnumbered 50k to 150K and though I might win the battle I was obviously not doing the damage I wanted.

Also what is the symbol that shows an element is completely destroyed in the battle results pane as I kept waiting for some troops to reinforce and it took awhile before I realised I had ground them to dust against constant attacks.

Thanks for the help. Looking forward to trying to keep either the EE or WE afloat on the next level up.

Combat power is the aggregate power of the individual units in the stack, modified by losses and cohesion. Having a lot of guns, being fresh (high cohesion), and hitting a low cohesion infantry-heavy force can get you those kind of results.

There is no real way to determine if you killed an element, but destroyed units have a black slash and their name in red on the battle summary:

Keep in mind the summary also lists the units of killed or wounded generals as destroyed when they often aren't.

You can't always tell if you lose an element, but you can tell if you killed one. The medal looking icon (on the far right of the French stack) shows that the unit destroyed at least 1 element during the battle (as the filter at the top is on E). If the battle goes long enough, you can see the stacks that lose pictures, and deduce that it has lost an element (not the best way I know, but it is the way I have found). You get the icon in the round that the kill happened, and thus you know that an element on the other side was destroyed.
Remember - The beatings will continue until morale improves.
