Constant CTDs after patch install

Mon Oct 28, 2013 11:23 pm

I just installed the new patch and unfortunately the game keeps crashing non stop. Has anyone else been experiencing the same problem?

Hi Mikkel,
Clean installation and patch 1.0b runs well.
Have you installed any other thing? some players have problems with the music mod.

Where is your game installation path?
Are you sure that the patch is installed correctly as it will NOT find your installation automatically - you need to set the game destination manually if its different than C:\games\Espana36

Come to think of it, in that case it might be the music mod. I installed the patch and the mod at the same time. I just requested a new download link, so I'll reinstall the game+patch first and see if that solves it. If that works, I'll maybe skip the music mod. :)

I think \games was the default directory so that should have worked. If nobody else has experienced problems with the patch, then it may well be the mod.

I made this mod and it could be that there are too many songs in the musics.ini for your computer (RAM vise). Try only with ini for republicans or nationalists.
Also please post your !Main log.txt that is located in Espana 1936\SCW\Logs when you get a crash.

That's possible, I've only played it on my small notebook so far. The game runs pretty good but yeah, the computer doesn't exactly have a lot of RAM to spare. I'll give it a shot now!

Loading so much songs into a "modest" computer will result in frequent crashes as it will suck up all its RAM.
BTW..how much RAM does it have?

I've now reinstalled the game on a different computer. I get fewer crashes than before, but they're there. Where can I send the log and save game to? I'd hate to have to restart the game after finally making it to 1937.

Please try it without my music mod. I am testing the game with it and am getting some CTDs too. No errors, just CTD!

Will do, I reinstalled everything on a better computer to avoid the RAM problem, but could be an overall issue with the mod. I'll try again. :D

Just identified the cause of the crash, and it had nothing to do with the music mod. It was the rail sabotage RD. I had to remove it to continue to the next turn, and the bug could be repeated in the next turn with the same results. This is interesting as I had no problems with the RD earlier in the game.

In any case, this is a heads up in the event anyone else might have the same problem.

Hi Mikkkel, the rail sabotage problem was fixed with the first beta patch. Do you have it installed?

It worked for quite a while after that, then I got another CTD in late 1937. Couldn't find the cause (tried cancelling move orders, RDs, reinforcements etc. to see if something might fix it), so I restarted the game.
