Hi,

Your installation is mysteriously corrupted or somehow you installed a mod or tweaked an event file. We don't have in any of our file UNI_USA_BDEN30, what we have is the correct uni_USA_BdeN25 ...

Duh... you are exactly right. Not sure where that came from; fixed the entry; now wasting time trying to figure out how it happened.

Great to see a developer that intrinsically knows their stuff. Very well done.

On another note CSA's Army of the Potomac in the Manassas area is able to perform river bombardment! There is no river of note in that area: Fauquier County is essentially landlocked; Stafford County abuts the Potomac and represents 2 counties area (itself and Prince William- which does extend along the Potomac); and Manassas technically is located in Prince William County but not a part of, and the amalgamation of counties is not a problem (one can only pack so much in that area); but apart from the minutiae there is nothing to bombard, and having the setting available may not mean anything in the long run and may not have a bearing on any combat results.

The Occoquan River does extend part ways through Prince William as a tributary of the Potomac but sputters out into Bull Run.

Are you sure the bombardment was from Fauquier region and not from Fairfax?

Fauquier isn't adjacent to any water regions at all. Fairfax however is adjacent to the Potomac River and the Lower Potomac River regions. If set to bombard--and Athena never forgets to do this--shipping moving from one of those Potomac regions into the the next will be bombarded.

No, I just double checked: Army of the Potomac is indeed in Fauquier County and I can toggle the Bombardment Button. Sure its just a simple region file edit. Easy to spot things like this for this area, as I live in the D.C. area.

I just checked, you can click on the Bombardment SO button on any stack which is at entrenchment level 3 or greater regardless of neighboring water regions or even whether the stack contains artillery or not. Pocus will have to have a look at this.

I can't confirm the issue. You can toggle bombard if at range order if entrenched enough, with a unit having 4+ range. There has never been a test on the actual position of the unit, i.e nearby a body of water. Range 4 is normally only given to artillery, rifles has range 3.

It appears if entrenchment >=3 and range >=4, then the Bombard SO will be active. Experienced players will understand that bombardment will not take place w/o satisfying the DAR rule; but, maybe the Bombard SO could be disabled in a future patch (if all conditions are not satisfied) so players new to the game don't feel frustration over what might appear to them as the game engine ignoring their commands. Just thinking of widening the fan base of the game and deepening their commitment to the AGEOD system...
