Performance Questions

Sat Oct 10, 2015 2:46 am

CW2 has been sluggish on my laptop. My specs are not great for gaming. I'm wondering if there are any ways to improve performance. All drivers are up to date.

My specs: Intel i7-Q720 1.6ghz @ 1.6ghz
Nvidia 310m
4gb RAM
Windows 7 64bit

Be sure to have the regions loaded from the start so they are in memory when you scroll. You can also reduce the maximum texture size, to be sure of that. Now, aside from changing the video card, there is not much to do alas.

IIRC, video cards are made to compute '3D' pictures, a more powerfull card won't harm for sure, but the better should be to add Video RAM, or at least 2Gb usual RAM, as 4Gb RAM is becoming short.

I picked up Rise of Prussia last week as the system requirements are much lower than CW2 but i'm still having the exact same problems. Whenever I select a large Army stack the lag is immense to the point that it unplayable.

Sometimes I have this problem in ACW2.

Make sure you have a clean boot of your computer. Load up the game. Exit. Load it up again. It always run 100x more smoothly. I'm guessing the necessary files have been loaded up in the RAm so it runs better.

Doesn't seem to make a difference. Whenever there is a large army stack present the entire nearby area lags immensely on the scroll and when selecting Units and Armies.

If I break an large Army down into smaller Corps stacks the problem goes away, but this is only a temporary fix for me because the A.I will eventually make a very large stack and then there's no way around the lag. So if I have 5 separate stacks in the same region I will get no lag, if I combine them all into one large stack I get massive lag. This happens in both Rise of Prussia and CW2.

Is your laptop plugged in while you play?
