Restoring a saved game manually

Wed Oct 02, 2013 2:08 pm

Hi,

The game allows to restore up to the past 3 turns, by using the Load Menu windows. But it may happen that a severe crash leads to this Load Menu Windows not functioning. This is caused by Windows UAC or the anti-virus, that is blocking the file from being edited/written.

Here is the procedure to restore manually a game.

First, check where the game saves your games (see the white line of text at the bottom of the options panel)

go to the saves directory

identify the game you want to restore

in the folder of the game, you'll probably see a file weighting 0 byte or files with the .TMP extension. Select these files and delete them.

Then go to the backup1 folder, select the files and do CTRL-C (copying them)

go up one folder, in the location where you deleted the files (so at first you should see no file) and then paste the copied files, thanks to CTRL-V. This is what you should see

Then you are good to load your saved game within the game.

If the problem happens too often, then you can also delete userpath.ini in the game main folder, so that the saved games are saved directly in the game folder and not in the users directory.
