Is there anyway to redefine or change the game's victory conditions?

Wed Aug 09, 2017 2:45 pm

Hey everyone. First off, let me say I'm really enjoying CW2 so far. It's the first AGEOD game I've purchased and I'm really impressed with the game's depth and level of detail.

That said, I'd like to try and alter one or two things to try and quench the thirst of the bloodthirsty savage in me. According to the manual, automatic victory or defeat will occur when one side reaches its minimum or maximum NM. That's all fine and dandy, and beautifully abstracted, but I'd like to make Total Conquest an option in my game. I actually watched someone obtain a NM victory as the Confederacy on YouTube, and while their capture of Washington was impressive, their armies got fairly mauled in other theaters. It was a victory, but not a very convincing one.

Actual history aside as far as what may have constituted an actual victory for the CSA IRL (Obviously, mere survival), I'd like to have the added option of really going for the throat (so to speak) as either the Confederacy or the Union. I've been looking through some of the files (.ini & .sct), but I'm not sure which one to edit for such things as extending the game's end date beyond 01/01/1866 (probably a requirement for a TC Mod), or, more importantly, editing the NM requirements to ensure they're unobtainable, thus allowing the war to grind on endlessly, making Total Conquest possible. I'm an old hand at editing Paradox games to my heart's content, but CW2's file system is a bit alien to me.

Does anyone know if what I'd like to do is even possible? If so, any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Err...maybe I should hold off on trying to mod the game's victory conditions until I can actually win a game under the default settings. I just played my first game as the CSA and got my clocked royally cleaned. In fact, it was far uglier than the CSA's actual loss IRL. The South at least fought a good fight with what they had. My performance was more like Poland's, or worse, Norway's against the Nazi war machine. :cuit:

Old topic, but it can help someone.
As in all (?) Ageod games to change victory conditions you need to edit scenario files.

Example: your HDD Ageod\Civil-War-II\CW2\Scens\ here

I've just added 100 turns to April 61 scenario:

The game will last longer, but morale check is still in play. So you can change it too.
CSA is 200 win, 25 loose,
USA is 200 win, 40 lose.
You can find these numbers and change to whatever suits you.
