I can't get the new portraits to show up in my game. Somehow the game is finding portrait files that are no longer even on my computer!

are you using the modpath file with a separate folder for all your changes?

I don't think so. I backed up the original game to an external drive, and then modified models, units, and added the unit, army, and leader portraits. They showed up in game before...and in fact, my portrait of Speed Fry shows up correctly, but everyone else that SHOULD have a photo is just a clone.

That is totally bizarre. I have had some screwy issues like that in the past and the only way to get it right was to do a clean install.

I would try to do a clean install and then if you want use the modpath file. First copy the CW2 folder and paste it in the main folder next to the CW2 folder and rename it, I called mine Portraits_Mod after a suggestion from someone in the forum. Then go to the modpath file in the main folder and type in the name of the new folder and then that file will redirect the game to your new mod folder. That way you can have the original folder and your modded folder right next to each other which I find convenient when I am playing around with graphics and modding events etc. For some reason I feel like it works better that way too, but maybe that is just me. Good luck man and thanks so much for your great work.

Here is James Mulligan who spawns early and has a generic photo.

He raised an Irish Brigade in Illinois and fought against Price early on.

I second this wholeheartedly. While the current generic portraits are well detailed & certainly better than nothing, not having a portrait of the actual general leaves the game feeling just a little incomplete. I hope that's rectified soon.

It will IF we receive them as a pack. At the moment we just have the collection spread over many pages of that forum, we just need a full pack with all files

I know Packersfan and I have a lot of generals' portraits that we have not posted yet, and some we are working on refining. Maybe we should choose someone to get all the finished products together and package them up nice for a new official patch. I am pretty sure I have all the generic generals completed except for maybe one or 2 one each side. I have also added numerous ones that I think should have been in the game. Additionally there are a couple of portraits that are incorrect that should be rectified (i.e. S. Fry).

Thanks to Packersfan I have replaced some of mine with his portraits, but I have also done a lot of other ones and a large amount of confederates who unfortunately do not have as good pictures available to colorize.

Let me know what you guys think, I am happy to be a part of this new patch, and I would be happy to be the one to organize them all together while choosing the best looking portraits for those we have duplicates of.

As mentionned earlier, we can make a special patch when we receive the whole lot. Best is that you pack everything you have and we see how to organize it.

As far as organizing I just meant making sure there were the right files for the corresponding general. What you guys do after is all you...

I have my generals all set, including all the generals posted on this forum to date. If packersfan has more to donate we could send everything in together.

Packersfan what do you think?

If Packersfan doesn't respond here in a bit I'll submit everything from this forum as well as all of mine including what I have not submitted. Several of mine on this forum I have improved also, including a lot of confederates that are hard to find. That actually should cover all the clones except 1 or 2.

Also there will be some corrections (i.e. Totten at the correct age, S. Fry)

The General's Portrait Patch is in the works, all but maybe one general from the main campaigns will have real portraits, eliminating the generic clone generals from the game.

Other portraits from generals like Chamberlain will be added to the portrait folders, but it will likely be up to you to add the extra generals to the game.

I am posting here the remaining generals that are already in the game that need new portraits. These are generals that would only show up in the smaller ancillary side campaigns, not the main campaigns. The idea was to get the main campaign free of generic portraits and then possibly work on the other ones.

If we can complete all these remaining generals perhaps we can eliminate all the generic portraits from the entire game in a future patch down the road. Even if you guys find black and white pictures of these guys that helps because some are hard to find, we just need the best quality photo available for each one.

Definitely a great resource, thank you for sharing that link!

At this point I have almost all the remaining generals, but some of the of the photos I have found while hunting through the internet lack quality. I will put out another sheet with the ones I either cannot find or the quality is low so we can all keep an eye out.

I have so many portraits...just haven't cut out the backgrounds...still haven't found a quick way to do this with quality. And been doing and playing so many other games.

An update on this guys, Phil Thib has made the mod/patch and I have tested it. I am not sure when they will make it available for download, but to my knowledge it is complete.
