Are you still playing?

After so many years, are you still playing this beauty?

Personally I just reinstalled it and I am looking for an opponent :dada:

The only thing that would stop me playing this is someone snuffing my flame... ;)

I have to say that I play again, after long break, very very few games, and CWII is one of them.
It is not too complex but still very deep, moreover is a WEGO that almost every boardgame cannot handle.
Surely the history theme does count too.

I am playing again.

I still feel like I have only scratched the surface.

I am not sure I could give a competitive Union fight, unless you were prepared for errors and willing to give some pointers.....

Just finished the one-year Western Theater scenario as confederates and lost to the AI. Great fun.

I found that setting the AI to aggressive and reckless is the best, funnest way to play her. A slight AI bonus for spotting is also justifiable given the human has a more cognitive advantage by nature. This and BOA2 are some of the most elegant designs I've come across in my 50 years of wargaming.

Still playing. Many are. Still follow my John Bell Hood instincts and fighting where I should not when I should not and providing a path to victory for my opponents. Still open to new pbem play if you are looking.

Yep,

Still playing, though I spend a lot of my time wandering around In Flanders fields.

I actually do love Hood. He had the right instincts and was willing to put it all on the line, not just in the late war, but in his early battles. Hood and Rosecrans are the two leaders who get the worst treatment in history and in games.
So when I compare my play to JB Hood I mean I will take the main chance and go for the win, rather than just playing safely into a sure defeat.

I'm glad you said that as I'm quite a fan of Hood's myself. As it was I think he went into army command a little undercooked, but with time and experience I think he would've made a tremendous army commander.
As for the 'history' surrounding him, I feel that much of it is fabrication perpetuated.

Just started a new Union game this past weekend and played into January '63.
Playing with high possibility of locked commanders, what a pain. Next game I'll do possible locked and no Grant :bonk:
Lost Ft. Pickens for the first time ever as Union :siffle:
That's what happens when you assume and Athena decides to enough force at it.

I've taken to playing both sides myself and have never enjoyed the game so much. I recommend it!

I am back to CW2 after several years away. Trying to get my brain around the system again. Looking forward to losing several games on the way back to winning!

Every now and again. The sort of game you just come back to.
