To promote a leader do you have to remove him from the stack? I have read the messages about a leader having a promotion, gone to his stack and seen his name flashing, clicked on the promotion button, but nothing seems to happen. Nothing in the manual about it and not a lot on the forums. Old posts state you must remove him from the stack but other posts seem to contradict this.

The advice to remove him from the stack seems to work. Give it a try. The AI, respectfully named Athena, plays hard to get every now and then. Might have something to do with the phases of the Moon.

Thanks Gray Fox. Last night I promoted a two star Grant in his role as a corps commander without removing him but later had to move a division commander in an army out of the stack to promote. Guess I will just have to play around with it some more.
