Counting on my Fingers

Sat May 12, 2018 5:53 pm

If I hit the “7” key and mouse over an area, the pop-up text box tells me:

Clear terrain in clear weather

Frontage Width (in points)
Line Elts 0: 180 – D: 180
Support Elts. 0:60 – d: 60

For this stack (in elements)
For Line Elts. :46
For support Elts.:15

And the combat tab in my unit information tells me the infantry and artillery units in the stack each have:

Frontage, open 4
Frontage, closed 8

Does this mean the above force's front line would have a total of 46 x 4 = 184 points? 4 more then the 180 allowed in this type of terrain and weather?

And for the support line it would be 15 x 4 = 60 points? Thus, filling the maximum allowed in this type of terrain and weather?

Did I count right, or do I need to shuck off my shoes and use my toes also?

Yep, you did your math's right. Keep in mind, if you are in unrestricted terrain the CiC will provide a frontage bonus in addition to the base. (Also, hit the 7 key again when things are muddy and look at what the difference ends up being.)

(Oh, and if you have Cav, in clear weather, the frontage quota is 2, so you can get two Cav elements in the same frontage for 1 infantry element, but bad weather hits the mounted boys harder.)
