Army Commander Kilt Daid

Fri Dec 30, 2016 9:06 pm

Hi guys, been away for a while. A lotta RL stuff, had to fix the laptop, yadda yadda.

Anyhow, fired up an 1862 start, am in spring of '63. Relieved McClellan lately (historical, past due), put Rosecrans in NoVa, left Grant in the Center, 'cuzza wide Command Radius.

So, Army of TN HQ gets involved in a scrap, a good size one, about 30K per side, and...

Grant is killed.

So, to recent hires, newbs, vets, and everyone: Yes, indeed, yer Army Commanders can get All Shot Up.

Yup. Lost Grant once shortly after he came into the game in a minor battle. If that wasn't hard enough, since Sherman coming into the game depends on Grant being alive, Sherman went off to Europe to escape the horrors of abhorrent politicians killing his brothers in the field like a scythe through tall grass and didn't returned until after the war, taking up the rectorship of an engineering collage in Cincinnati. Those who knew him well could report of a queer habit he maintained all the rest of his life. Every year after his return to the US, on one specific day in the later part of March he could be observed taking two crystal whisky glasses and a bottle of bourbon to the edge of the Ohio, where he'd fill both. Lifting one in solute he would pour the other reverently into the icy brown waters of the Ohio and utter a single word, Sam.

Sorry, my friend, no WiFi or connx at my current residence, so online gaming is impractical at the moment. Will get online in the near future, I hope.

Thanks for the offer, and Happy New Year!
