Changing leaders stats, traits etc

Fri Oct 21, 2016 11:29 am

I know i read somewhere here on the forum on how to modify the leaders.

Let´s say i want Samuel Cooper to stay in Richmond but not as a field commander but as a "Training HQ"
And same with Braxton, William Halleck so on so on.

Anyone wanna help a noob on this subject?

It´s for the Confederate cause of course :dada:

I went into the events folder and removed the event that removes Cooper. He stays in
the game, fixed unless attacked, and even then I only got him because Richmond was
attacked multiple times. I ended up still keeping him there.

As Dr P said it is an event to remove Cooper

go to Civil War II > CW2 > Events folder

Open the CSA Events file with note pad

Look for

SelectFaction = CSA
SelectRegion = $Richmond_VA
StartEvent = evt_nam_CSA_CooperRetires1861|1|2|evt_txt_CSA_CooperRetires1861|Event-img_CSA_CooperRetires1861|$Richmond_VA|94

Conditions
MinDate = 1861/11/01
MaxDate = 1862/01/01
SelUnqSubUnit = Samuel Cooper

Actions
DescEvent = evt_desc_CSA_CooperRetires1861
RemoveCuSubUnit = Samuel Cooper

EndEvent

and either delete all of that or just change the MinDate & MaxDate to something outside of the bounds of the game timeline

Best to backup the file outside of that folder first

Thanks for the tips on how to keep him. I think i will have him in Richmond at least to 66 i think. To have a little historian "authicity" :P

But how is it with the traits and such? Because their is commanders i would like to add that aren´t in the game.
And before all there is a bunch of already in-game commanders traits that i feel needs to be reassigned as many
of them are totally wrong.

I've answered this in the other thread you started here: Changing Leaders, Stats, Traits etc..

The Captain has given you the info for updating a Leader. The only stats you would typically play with there are

- Strategic =
- Offensive =
- Defensive =
- Adding or removing Abilities

If you want to add leaders then you in the world of adding Models and Units

Key things there are
- If you want the leader to be promotable then make sure you add in a TechUpg for the lower rank
- You will need to amend or add aliases, these are in the Civil War II > CW2 > Aliases folder. Seperate files for adding Model and Unit aliases
- Create or update an event for the arrival of your new general on the map

As mentioned, look in the Mod threads as there are some great mods about with updated/added generals where you may be able to "borrow" most of the necessary files, though make sure your aliases align to your files. There is also a great Portrait thread with updated and new portraits for a lot of generals.

If you have trouble with that then we can put a step by step guide together but I think most of that info is in the wiki. Though a lot of the fun of modding is working ot out yourself :confused:

One of the reasons why I love this game so much is the ability to modify so many aspects. :coeurs:
