Marching to the sound of guns

Wed Jan 06, 2016 1:30 am

I ve used it a couple of times in TEAW but not sure if I did it right tbh, it seems like a corp or Army can call Mttsgs and all corps in located adjacent regions will follow that call and try to reinforce...
So basically I dont need to move all units from the regions to the combat, they just follow automaticall the army, right ?

Ok, but if thats true isnt the right exploit vs. good opponent in combat ( not sure if AI have some tricks here) to start the battle late, say on day 13. just to make sure the reinforcement of the enemy isnt making back to the their trench so you can attack next round a free fort ? Or can you only use Mttsgs if you attack and not when you are the defender ?
I think it goes for both as assault and defence.

Not sure guys, correct me if I am wrong :)

That is a known (and valued) exploit. MTSG is more likely if the helping stack is in offensive posture- thus it is less likely (but not impossible) on defense

Is MTTSOGs an automatic feature of the game? Or, is there some opening "button/setting" to activate? My guess is that it's automatic; but, having had too many stacks on Def/Std, I have some doubts (because they so seldom move. OTOH, I have noted in the battle display that available troop numbers ebb and flow, indicating that this feature really does work. Is this right?

Late entry into a region does indeed hinder an opponent's MTSG, but only if timing is right.
You do not need to move units into the region, in fact, you are often better not to as if they are moving they are less likely to MTSG.
Offensive posture is not necessary, it may help, but units in blue/orange also join the battle very often.
It is an automatic feature for armies and the army's corps.
It is interesting to watch a battle resolve. Corps join, step aside and rejoin battles. But the core element is that MTSG does work. Learning how to use it well, that is a challenge.

Ok nice comment @Durk
I unfourtanely used to move all units so that seems unnecessary since they do it automatically!

Can I also call MTSG when I am in trench for example like when I am in defense and I expect that enemy is going to attack me with big force next turn ? I guess so

While I can only attest to the Hannibal -Terror of Rome part of AJE, if you think ordering Lee or Grant around to smash the enemy is fun, then wait till you get your hands on a real general like Hannibal. And elephants.

If you like the style of ageod games then chances are you will like them all. Its mainly about picking your preferred era to play in.

Although I enjoy the tactical battles (at squad level control--100s of individual units run me crazy), I love the macro-strategy level best. I'm just sad that I missed all these years with the original ACW. TW games (especially the eras) are fun but not nearly as satisfying as this AGEOD concept. Despite the occasion bug, I think it's well done.

Well done, devs....

Thanks, C'Ape
