Can no longer destroy industrial buildings in 1.01RC4

Fri Oct 11, 2013 1:55 pm

Playing a PBEM game as the Union. I've taken Savannah and was planning to destroy the industry there before withdrawing. However, the function appears to be gone. I find that I cannot destroy industries anywhere, even in my own cities. Was this removed intentionally (which would seem very odd) or is this a bug?

the tooltip was there but the code never allowed destroying building except with special orders to destroy a fort or depot. You can't destroy industrial buildings this way anyway.

That's unfortunate. It eliminates what would have been an interesting option for an economic warfare approach to Union strategy.

Could this destruction be done with a scorched earth decision card?

that would be a better approach indeed, less abusable. But that's too late for the first patch.

If something could be implemented eventually that allowed for destroying industrial buildings, it would add an important element to economic warfare. The Scorched Earth card, or a similar additional card, would be a fine way to do it.

A separate card might be good, move industry to safety would be nice also.

Should the numbers be affected by time or other factors so that you dont get to start total war from the start?
