Changes include:
- An extensive variety of new brigades. The greatest beneficiaries of this makeover are the New England states who up until now had very little presence or identity within the game. That has been corrected and thoroughly so.
You'll now see infantry brigades available in Rhode Island, cavalry recruitable in Vermont and artillery coming out of Maine, etc, etc.
Sharspshooters also make their presence felt in states where they were ignored before.
- Horse artillery and militia have been given an extensive facelift. There just isn't the abundance of either that there was before (in a number of states militia and horse artillery have been removed altogether). You're going to have to think about where and when you use them.
The reasons behind these changes were/are an attempt to make things look and feel much more historical.
In the case of horse artillery I found during my research for this mod that very few batteries on either side served specifically and only as horse artillery. More often than not regular field artillery was attached to cavalry units as needed. Again, there isn't the abundance of these units that there was before but they are still there.
In the case of militia, some states, particularly Confederate, used a lot of militia. In others, particularly Union, they used very little. The changes I've made reflect that.
- There are an abundance of new cavalry brigades available to nearly every state involved. Not to mention regiments in states in which there were previously none. I also fixed that issue with Indiana cavalry coming out of Iowa. That is no longer a problem.
- I replaced the portraits of a few generals with, in my opinion, better ones. Not a lot has changed here but the changes that were made look a lot better.
I also brightened the portraits of quite a number of generals and they now have a lot more punch and impact.
- I provided a greater selection of colored brigades. The 2-regiment colored brigade remains, but is now supplemented by 3, 4 and (I think) 5 regiment colored brigades.
- Florida now sees itself much better equipped than it was before. A new 3-regiment infantry only brigade appears there, as well as cavalry regiments and battalions, not to mention artillery.
Florida isn't going to furnish the Confederacy with a lot of units, but it will provide more than before.
- I added about 100 new generals on top of those I added in the previous version which makes an already ridiculous amount of generals even more ridiculous but I wouldn't want it any other way
- All generals are now promotable to 3-star general, except for the most recent additions of generals who are (thus far) only promotable to 2-star major general. I will likely rectify that in the near future.
- I altered the stats, seniority and abilities of large number of generals. Some generals came out of that far better off, others far worse.
- Some of the units graphics have been shuffled around. Not extensively but just a little more to my liking. The units graphics and just how awesome they look is the work of my good friend @Stratman. He has made a mighty and invaluable contribution for which I am forever grateful.
I'd like to extend my thanks to @AACW3plz for his help and advice. The bloke is like the fount of all knowledge and wisdom with anything CW2 related. Top fella, too. Muchas gracias, amigo!
To @deguerra, your support has given me faith when my faith was faltering, and for that I am very grateful
And last but not least, my good friend @Durk. There's much I could say about this absolute gem of a bloke, but I'll say only this: You killed Reynolds, you bastard!
