Thu Jun 18, 2015 10:06 pm

Hi all, i was just wondering what experienced players as south do in regards to navy and industry.

1]Navy- Do you buy and how much? what are your goals what do you try to do with confederate navy?

2]Richmond- what do you do to stop a navel invasion direct to Richmond?

3] What industry do you buy [if any] and were?

thanks

1. I put the CSA coastal navy concentrated at NO (except for the ships trapped in VA). It is essential to your economy to hold that city. The blockade runners that you have given to you didn't cost you anything, so I put them all in one stack in the Gulf box. Two of these only have one ship. You can put these two in a port on green/green and they will get the second ship over time from replacements that you have. Then they go to the Gulf too. If you build more runners, they have to be at sea for a very long time before they break even and start actually bringing in resources. If that seems like a good idea to you, then good luck!

2. Williamsburg is the key. Entrench a force inside there with some artillery early in 1861 so that you have a strong fighting position to defend. The Union can't go around Williamsburg. That's where you make your stand.

3. Build the iron works in VA for extra WS. That's a good investment.

I play for the long game, so I invest more in blockade runners and industry than some other players might

Bottle up Fortress Monroe. That's the key. Keep some big guns in Norfolk (without a leader, that way they are always active) in order to blow up ships coming up that way. Keep a quick moving full division behind the lines to fight fires, that's what you'll use to combat an invasion by way of northern North Carolina.
