Moving troops out of besieged cities by sea

Mon Jul 01, 2019 11:51 am

I have an odd situation where I load some troops in a besieged city onto ships. I can drag the stack out of the city and to a neighboring port and the troops appear to be leaving with the ships.

But when I complete the turn and check what happened, the ships have arrived at their destination but the troops have stayed in the besieged city. I've repeated the turn using the backup files and the same result happens each time.

is there some rule about sieges that I'm missing?

thanks

Have you tried putting them in passive?

I'm very not much sure about that and it has been a while since I dig into the old engine

Don't give Pocus too much of a hard time about this one, the behavior changed as the game evolved.

Load the troops, put the whole force into passive mode, select avoid combat. This will get you out.

LOL that's OK. We need to keep Pocus focused on FoG:Empires. I'm *really* looking forward to that :dada: .

Meanwhile, 'passive' && 'avoid combat', gotcha. Thanks.

Hey, I was right!

What to say. I typed 100k lines of code in Empires since then. And Empires is the spiritual heir to AGE...

Yes that seems to be the case based on the FoG:E screenshots I've seen so far. The data items in the tooltips and dialog boxes do seem to be in the finest traditions of the AGEOD œuvre :coeurs: -- just a lot easier to find and interpret.

It's gonna be a hit I'm sure!

I managed to make this work in my current game. Perfect.
