Why have you made only the images for the Asian Elephants and not also for the African ones ?

If I am not mistaken, all elephants used in the Ancient Mediterranean were Asian Elephants, but I am no expert on the subject.

Both wrong guys...we have African elephants images (used by Carthage) and the Carthaginians did use a specific African elephant species (now extinct). The Asian elephants were used by Pyrhus, the Seleucids and Lagids

Yes Phil, but unless the old African elephants were the same as the Asian ones (much unlikely), you have used the Asian elephant image for the African ones (Look at the ears, they aren't very large, as the African Elephant have).

Aaaaaaaand this is the reason I love the players playing AGEOD games! Vincentius started a thread because THE EARS OF THE FREAKING ELEPHANTS WERE NOT OF THE RIGHT SIZE!!!

(seriously, good call, and if this is an honest oversight I expect it to be corrected in the next patch... it should not be that hard if the image already exists in the database... I wish I were in my main PC I would have looked at it right away!)

Do not misunderstand, I don't request any work to be done on this image :neener: . Returning to talking about the elephants used by Carthage, they were not only with big ears, but they were also smaller and similar to the African forest elephant.

Agreed...the pic was not made ad hoc by the artist...but what matters is the models characteristics...and they are different! Look is a matter of endless changes, and that's where modders are most welcome

Unfortunately I have no ability to mod :(

Hah! African forest elephants are my specialty. The ears on the North African forest elephants were much smaller than the ears on the veldt African elephants that exist today.

What were the names of the elephants?

There weren't that many of them and I'm sure they all had nice names.

Supposedly Hannibal rode an elephant named Surus in the early stages of the invasion of Italy who was the last surviving elephant from the crossing of the Pyrenees
I have read mentions of this elephant after Trasimene until after Hannibal crosses the Appennines and loses his eye.....I do not recall mention later but I guess one elephant is unlikely to get mentioned

There is also mention of Elephants named Barry, Kevin, and Wayne (only joking)
