Any word of the 2nd Punic War expansion?

Thu Jan 09, 2014 2:37 am

I have been waiting patiently for this expansion pack. I will die a happy man once it is released and I can play as Hannibal annihilating Roman Legions.

Very interesting, another stand alone expansion. I thought they didn't want to release any more of them.

Now all we need is a release date

Creative Assembly recently came out with its own 2PW expansion. Now you guys are working on yours. Coincidence?

This expansion has been planned and in the works for some time. It is also a very different experience. Beer and pretzels compared to champagne and caviar really.

You're right mate. Personally I have more fun when I play AJE than when I play Rome 2

Even a comparison is an insult to dried paint. :D I have written off TW for good and it was always only a lark and guilty pleasure but I feel taken after the entire R2 fiasco.

Excellent news. A lot of promising features. I look forward to play each scenario.

One question thought: the website says that "the players would be able to play as Hamilcar Barca or Hannibal and his elephants." Does it mean that we would be able to play Hamilcar in the first Illyrian war? (the fellow died in 229/228...). As posted some time ago. I am pretty excited by the idea to build the Barcid hegemony in Spain (well at least Hasdrubal the Fair), but maybe it is only a mistake.

Thanks again for the great work. This looks amazing anyway.

The writer probably got confused about Hannibal's family...I have Hannibal's brothers in the game, not the father (he is in the previous one, Birth of Rome, though)

That was I thought. Thanks for the answer. I already really appreciated the Mercenary War in BOR.
(I would totally buy a DLC...Creating Cartago Nova would be awesome.)

Does anyone know if intervention of Philip II (on Carthage side) will be possible?

I'm especially looking forward to this! Move aside Rome, the animal empire will dominate the Mediterranean!

So, if I read the description of the 2nd Punic War correctly
The Second Punic War(219-201 BC) is a major campaign that started even before the clash between Rome and Carthage; when Roman legions fight in the Second Illyrian War, and Carthage finishes its conquest of Hispania

In the scenario the Carthaginians and Romans do NOT start at war with each other is that true?

If yes, that would be absolutely awesome! There could be some awesome strategic possibilities. Would it for example be possible to delay war with Rome and 100 % secure Spain first?

Looks very promising!

I wonder how good commanders the Elephants faction has? :D

I also hope to see a scenario about the Punic conquest of Hispanian territory one of these days, though maybe it would be a bit of a challenge to create.

Any word of functional improvements to the AJE engine that may come along with the Terror of Rome?
