There is a post at the Matrix forum about a $250 edition of the game... Does anyone know anything about this?

Yes, besides the "regular" game at 19.99, there are the "Praetor" edition at $100 and the Proconsul at $250.
They give some bonus (like free access to future DLCs, a signed DVD, an extra copy in DVD in the Proconsul, etc.), but they exist mainly to serve as a way of special (and rich ) fans to express their support of Ageod. Complete info at the Ageod shop.
