Sun Jul 05, 2015 8:07 pm

I am getting lots of "..." event messages in the log. Missing localization or something maybe?

An engine warning for other AGE games that is useless here but was hard to desactivate for us volunteers so we let 3 points text. Ignore it, it is only the noise of the wind in the toundra... :)

This text would be better than the 3-points...
"Wind blows on the tundra... (non switchable obsolete engine warning)" :)
or are the points harcoded?

:mdr:
That could be good sentence.
No this is not the points that are hardcoded but a (weather?) command that generate the event line. We can easy replace the 3 points by anything, like :

"Winter is coming and you still know nothing, comrade Snow ! :niark: "

Only good for autumn turns, very bad for spring ones..
I think it has to be written along with an explanation (like "place holder of irrelevant system message").

Might that not be too visually unappealing, though?

"
...
...
...
"

Is less unobstructive than

"
Some longer line of text (place holder of irrelevant system message).
Some longer line of text (place holder of irrelevant system message).
Some longer line of text (place holder of irrelevant system message).
"

Especially when there are other log entries above and below those entries.

I quite like the tundra line, though.

Or maybe only "Wind blows on the tundra..." is written ingame, and the explanation is to be included in the next version of the manual...

"Wind blows on the tundra" is rather nice and appropriate in all seasons.

Putting an explanation for what it really means directly into the game is counter-immersive. Although it's nice to see explanations of game functions, explaining something like that won't make it clearer and but will detract a bit from the atmosphere.

I think Eriss's suggestion of including the explanation of its meaning in the next version of the manual or the notes on version changes is the best.

Not sure if it should be "Wind blows on the tundra" or "The wind blows on the tundra". I think I prefer the second one ("The wind...") because it sounds more like the title of a Russian folksong.

On second thought it would probably look better without the article, especially if it occurs several times in a row.

The only alternative I can think of to the excellant "wind blows on the tundra" is perhaps "wind blows on the steppe" or "wind blows across the steppe".

Or "The proletariat is grumbling." "The foreigners are like wolves at our doors."

Any explanation is better that these 3 dots, the player will likely think of an event where text is missing but that is of importance or else it wouldn't be an event.
