Can't run game after latest patch

I just bought the game today (have various other AGEOD games). It ran initially but after I downloaded the latest patch I am getting the error message - Settings erroneous value or family alias while reading an AI affinity reading affinity 0???? Can anyone help. I am running windows 8

It don't seems to be a system error but a database error, perhaps the patch was not applied fully. Can you post your mainlog file here?

How do I do that? I've reinstalled the game and it is running ok again with no patch installed. I will try to download the patch again and see what happens. If you can explain how to post the mainlog I will do so if I get the same issue
