Original Red Army film section in Ukraine in february 1919 (Anarchists allies)

Thu May 16, 2013 10:57 pm

For those who didn't already saw it, the rare short film from the Red army film section which was recording the Anarchist HQ with Makhno, on the way to the front, during the first "Red/Black" alliance. Piece of story which incredibly survived the Stalinian eradication of Historical sources... :

Nice montage too.

I suppose this is real footage, you can see it in different documentaries films from various countries. But which mediatheque have the original, this i don't know.

It would be interesting to know the story inside the story : how such film archives from the Red side reach the "West". The one with Makhno, as well as the ones of your post with Trotsky everywhere and Staline nowhere (which is logic, since Stalin had a minor role in the RCW, so there where simply much less such archive about him) should have been destroyed by Stalin (and the one about Makhno, even destroyed by Trotsky ;-)).

We should remember that they had not the numerized video tools we have now to. I guess the one the Staline services can't modify somehow, they better destroy it or stock it in remote basement of the Cheka.

Yes it seems Trotsky wanted to go Germany(for trigger revolution) during first exile but it seems from documentary he can be killed any time by secret service that he changed place where he felt threatened. Mainly he lived in the island isolated from inland. But the government forced him to change place to feel him insecure so he moved to another country. I think he is very secretive to government(or government did not want to involve). There maybe some info locked in archives fresh about the situation.
