How do you change the unit images? I'm guessing that it has something to do with coding in the files some how?

There is a folder where you may change image for the unit
RUS\GameData\Models

Pick up the model, open this file and change "Portrait" line (for ex: Portrait = mdl_RED_Inf0.png)
THEN delete Models.Cashed file in this folder and Run the game.
