Yeah, passwords only affect the ord file. It defeats the purpose as you're sending trn files which arent pw-protected.

Just be careful when you send your turns and let's hope there is a sense of chivalry on the receiving end if you make a mistake - because it will be obvious to them if you've sent the wrong trn file. One thing you candoo to be sure is when you've attached them, verify each player is receiving one csa and one usa turn. Also, make sure you've memorized which e-mail goes with which player.

Naming

Tue May 19, 2009 5:07 am

Gentlemen and our Queen,

Is there a standard naming convention for PBEM files? Or more appropriately, what would be a good pattern for naming?

Usually "player1vsplayer2" but as I said, you may want to call them player1union" or to be extra safe "player1unionvsplayer2csa" and then flip it for the other game.

I´m having several problems because the players are using the option "turn compresion".

For all, please you must no use the "turn compresion" option

Why does this cause a problem? Is it a bug?

If you are the host and you use "turn compression", one of the player will not can to open his game.

If you are the host and both player uses "turn compression", you will not can to open the game for end turn.

Just to clarify, turn compression makes it so the host can't resolve the turn. Just zip it instead.

DarthMath & Vegetius,

I wish to express the same back to you both! :) I had fun for the short time it lasted, but when your having fun it always seems to end early anyway right? I learned much from this first round so hopefully I'll be better prepared for the next tourny! Good luck DarthMath! I wish for you the best my friend! :w00t:

Now I'll go back to my laptop and whoop up on Athena for a few games (I hope?! ...too feel better! ;) :neener:

Thank you very much, Todd. You're a real gentleman, even I had no doubts about this !! ;)
Good luck to you with Athena, she must be a quite tough opponent too, from time to time !! :D
And see you another time for a re-match, when you are inclined to do so.

The only time I have a problem with turn compression is if I use the wrong password. :bonk:

Final Tally for AKurtz vs JDT

+77 as CSA for JDT
+16 as USA for JDT
Total score +93 JDT vs AKurtz.

Daxil,
FYI, my game is delayed about a week now. My opp is incommunicado. Our host, AKurtz, has attempted to contact him but no luck so far.
Just a heads' up. We are at turn 5.

Too bad really, if he abandons...I like this scenario and the match is up for grabs. I have small advantage is all.
Very good scenario in fact, as its setup as a campaign only, without the admin and strategic elements.

Darn -- I hate to see my esteemed PBEM opponent go down in the first round (AKurtz) :(

If it makes you feel better Andrew, my games aren't going too hot either -- but we have come to expect that ;)

Why thank you my friend -- one of our games might be close, but the other is going downhill due to a major oversight on my part. But you're right, anything can happen! Glad you're enjoying it as much as I am :)

He'll be the last alternate. Gustfire therefore defaults to round 2 and gets the 7 seed.

Hi All:

My hearty congratulations to my esteemed opponent in my tournament game Jim-NC. We split our games both winning as the CSA but I lost on victory points by my count 160-144. It was close and great fun. Congratulations, thanks for the game and good luck in round 2.
