problem - unable to continue ame, allways crash

Direct X to main invalid call (burst mode).
terminate aplication yes/no.

Any idea how to fix it ?

after some browsing i found this in log file :

18:00:17 [Error ] THost.LoadHostFile Exception caught: Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier "D:\Games\Pride of Nations\VGN\Saves\1850 GC Russia\1850 GC Russia.hst". Proces nemá přístup k souboru, neboť jej právě využívá jiný proces - meaning process cant acces file, because he is used by someone else. (antivir? ). But it happen exactly when i just press next turn, independed from time.

I would try to execute PON.exe under XP service pack 3 restrictions if you are having Win 7. Personally that fixes most crashes and start-up problems I sometimes experienced when playing PoN under Win 7.

The HST file seems to be 0 byte, please backup one turn (using the in game menu, when you mouse over the turn)

Yes, hst was 0 byte, roled back one turn and it worked, but have same problem after few more turn (around 20) - any idea which can cause it ?

Usually "something" prevents the game from accessing that file... the usual cause is an antivirus program or any other program that may be running in the background that could be reading that file while the game tries to open it and so it fails.

Any chance to make it "buletproof" when game try to read it ? Like checking that file is not readed by other program, before it try to acces it ? I think waiting few more seconds for antivirus to perform check and then process turn is much more nicer, than having game crash.

Seems again a problem with memory handling, is the crash repeatable or not? If it is, can you check your HST file, in the save directory is not weighting 0 byte?

HST have data, was able to normaly continue, it was not repeatable. Any program to test memory condition/handling ?

That's a memory problem (sound not found). If a sound was not really there, the game would not be able to run, so it is not there after game launch, meaning the memory is full. Try reducing the memory loading by checking the leftmost box in 'max texture size', put memory usage to 50%. If you want to try, you can also remove dynamic borders, it will save memory. The option is shown in 1.03b: access main menu, options window, media and then uncheck 'dynamic borders'

I thought that when i have 4 gb of ram, it will be enought , and when i run game + task manager (to check resource ussage) it show that memory is used by around 80% (meaning 20% is free/not used).
So, then my system or gam have some memory handling problems, but i think it will be more likely my pc :( .

and some idea : it is posible to modify game, that if was unable to play sound, that it will only show error mesage and will contiue ? After all playing sound is not critical to contiue game, unlike inability to read some other datas.

That would be better if you disabled sounds except in smaller scenarios, there is an option for that (restart the game though)
